This unique business opportunity is located 380km north of Maputo on the banks of the Rio Inharrime. It is close to the historic city of Inhambane as well as world-class diving spots in Tofo Bay. A 15-minute boat ride from the lodge’s private jetty will deliver you to Lake Poelela. This area, along with the water right in front of the lodges, is ideal for fishing, waterskiing, kite-surfing, kayaking, bird-watching, or simply relaxing on the white-sand beaches.

There are 2 parts to this business: an 85-hectare cashew nut farm and 3 self-catering lodges located on the privately owned cashew nut plantation. The total size of the property is 110 hectares. The website is

The 85-hectare cashew orchard has 6,000 cashew trees planted between 9 and 14 years ago. The trees were cultivated from seeds from their own nursery on the farm. They were grafted using local leaf stock prior to infield planting. The seeds used are a mix of local and Brazilian varieties. The orchard is ready to deliver cashew production at full capacity. Trees generally start producing nuts in the seventh year after planting, with full yields being obtained after 8-10 years. The water supply is plentiful from a series of boreholes; the reservoirs on the farm have a capacity of 40,000 litres. The nut in its unprocessed state has a shelf life of two years. Whatever shortfalls are incurred regarding orders exceeding the plantation’s capability, there is a significant amount of land available in the concession to increase the orchid size to a total of 996 hectares. There are numerous growers in the area to buy unprocessed products from to fulfill orders.

The lodges can sleep 24 people in total in three lodges (1 x large lodge accommodates 12, 2 x medium lodge accommodates 6). There are also 2 campsites. Both the campsites and the lodges have private jetties onto the water.

The large lodge enjoys a fully equipped kitchen and lounge with 3 bedrooms with an enclosed porch that can accommodate 2 guests. There are two bedrooms with a double bed in each, and then a third room that has 3 bunk beds in it. The lodge has two bathrooms, both with a spa bath and a shower in each.

The two medium lodges sleep 6 people. There are two rooms that have a double bed in each and then there are 2 single beds out on the front enclosed porch. All three lodges have outdoor verandas as well.

There are 2 well-equipped campsites, each with its own thatch gazebo encasing a hot water shower, basin, power points, and picnic tables.

The asking price is $400,000 USD (R7,700,000 South African Rands). This is made up of a value of 85-hectare cashew orchard and the balance is the assets and infrastructure. The ownership of the company and the rights to the land concession will be transferred to the buyer. The business is registered in the Seychelles with tax benefits.
