PRIVATE GAME FARM & NATURE RESERVE

Set between Melmoth & Vryheid, this farm is set on 1060ha. The scenery on the farm of undulating hills, unspoiled bushveld and grassy plains interspersed with Aloes and breathtaking views on mountains in the distance highlights the serenity and magic of this area.

The farm is well stocked with smaller antelope such as Blesbok, Grey Duiker, Impala, Mountain Reedbuck, Steenbok and larger game such as Kudu, Nyala, Blue Wildebeest, Giraffe, Zebra, bushpig and warthog make up the diversity of the game.

There are of course the various indigenous animals, who are very shy and rarely spotted such as pengulin, baboon, monkey, dassie, aardwolf, caracal, serval, silver back jackal. A prolific birdlife of hundreds of different species make bird watching very interesting. 4 x 4 vehicles or vehicles with high clearance are recommended.

Accommodation is in unique, rustic style stone and thatch cottages. The camp carries the essence of the bush, eco-friendly installations such as solar energy for lights, “firing the donkey” for hot water for the shower or bath is a South African bush experience. 4 Self-catering Cottages, each with its own bathroom, are serviced and all bedding, linen etc. is supplied. The kitchen is fully equipped.

Hiking trails and hiking in riverbeds with a cool-down in natural rock pools is a favourite pastime for guests. Game drives, night drives, star-gazing and bird watching are part of the leisure activities enjoyed in the Reserve.

Trophy hunting is conducted all year and biltong hunting takes place during the KwaZulu Natal hunting season.

Our hunters and nature lovers alike enjoy the fauna and flora and a special time spent in the African bushveld. The lapha is the ideal place in the evening after a day in the bush to unwind and reminisce on the day’s happenings.

Our bushman paintings and cave discovered in 2003 by the Archaeological Department of the Kwazulu Natal Museum has been viewed by many with Awe. Bushmen had settled in the area in the 13 th – 14 th century and lived their lives and hunted for survival on this farm.

Additional extras - Generators, Solar Panels and Batteries, certain Vehicles e.g. John Deere Tractor, Two wheeler 7 ton trailer, Fire Fighting Tank with Pump/Dam scoop.
